Memorial Day - Remembering the cost of freedom

Freedom is anything but free. We are reminded of that on patriotic occasions like Memorial Day.

Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936 ), the Nobel Prize-winning author who penned The Jungle Book, was British, not American. But his famous quotation about freedom still rings true:

All we have of freedom,
all we use or know -
This our fathers
bought for us
long and long ago.

That statement may be found in Kipling's The Old Issue (1899).

Does that prompt you to write your own blog post or online piece for Memorial Day?

If so, c'mon back with a linked comment, so our readers can find it.

  1. I'm visiting from the A to Z list and I arrive a bit after Memorial Day. We had a little Memorial Day remembrance post on one of the blogs with which my blogging team participated.
